Build an RSS feed of official city press releases and statements

Okay, I realize that this also means that there be an official mechanism and procedure for publishing official city press releases and news statements, but a way for Petaluma citizens to keep tabs on things like water conservation alerts, or announcements of new billling features, would be really nice.

Yeah, one of the reasons I'm putting the brakes on my own advocacy of open data and open government is that most of this is about reorganizing how various city departments work, and though the process of opening up city data should keep the overall workload the same or even be lessened (ie: each department wouldn't have to keep its own Rolodex of press contacts, for instance), driving this from the web site and the IT side of things could easily turn into half-hour Perl hacks becoming hundreds of thousands of dollar nightmares.

You're astute to note we need an official mechanism, one of 2 large barriers. The other being to address an already overburdened City staff and IT staff. Need a larger view of priorities.
